Adhesion Testing Testing the adhesion can be done in your facility. Use the following steps to verify good adhesion. - Prepare the bonding surface with the cleaners and/or primers recommended in the Primer Chart.
- Follow the recommended drying time.
- Apply a 12 lineal inch bead of Sikaflex ® (3/8” x 3/8”) to the substrate.
- Allow the sample to cure for 7 days in room temperature conditions.
- Test the adhesion as displayed below.
- Immerse the sample in water for 7 days and test the adhesion again.
For a successful application, there should be a cohesive break of the Sikaflex ® on greater than 75% of the bonding surface for bonding applications. For sealing applications, there should be a cohesive break on greater than 25% of the bonding surface. Start:
